Angol alapképzési szak (English Studies, BA); Angol nyelv és kultúra tanára (Undivided Teacher Training, MEd); Angoltanári mesterszak (short cycle MEd)

Kutatási dolgozat:

Az angol alapképzési szak modelltantervének 4. félévében, az osztatlan tanári szakon a 8. félévben [tanári mesterképzési szakon a képzés szerinti modelltanterv vonatkozó félévében] a hallgatók egy min. 15 oldal terjedelmű, angol nyelvű kutatási dolgozatot írnak egy általuk választott témából. (Alapszakon a téma lehet irodalomelméleti vagy irodalomtörténeti, elméleti vagy alkalmazott nyelvészeti, vagy az angol nyelvű országok történelme és civilizációja; osztatlan tanárszakon és tanári mesterszakon pedig a nyelvpedagógia, illetve az alkalmazott nyelvészet tudományterületének egy-egy kérdésére koncentrálnak.)

Jellegét tekintve a kutatási dolgozat témája lehet elméleti, illetve –ahol kísérletezésre, megfigyelésre lehetőség van (pl. nyelvészet, alkalmazott nyelvészet, nyelvpedagógia)–gyakorlati.

A kutatási dolgozat célja:

A kutatási dolgozattal a hallgatók bizonyítják, hogy képesek az elsajátított ismeretek szintetizálására, a tudományos munkához szükséges kezdeti lépések megtételére, valamint az angol nyelven való értekezésben megkívánt módszertani és nyelvi-stiláris eljárások alkalmazására

A kutatási dolgozat alapszakon előfeltétele a Szakdolgozati szeminárium I. felvételének.

Témaválasztás, témavezető:

Témaválasztásra az Intézet által kiírt témákból van lehetőség. A témakínálat évente változhat az intézetigazgató döntése alapján. A témavezető az Intézet bármely oktatója lehet. A témaválasztást az intézetigazgatónak jóvá kell hagynia.

Címbejelentés, konzultációk:

A témaválasztást a hallgató köteles egy–általa felkért–témavezetővel ellenjegyeztetni az Intézet által meghatározott formanyomtatványon („Major paper form”). A témaválasztás elfogadását az intézetigazgató aláírásával jelzi.

Határidők és ütemezés:

Ha a hallgató a tavaszi (február)/őszi (szeptember) félévben készíti el a kutatási dolgozatot:

a szemeszter kezdetére: a hallgató témát választ, a témavezetővel egyeztetve kialakítja a pontos kutatási kérdést
a kitöltött Major paper form leadási határideje: - BA szakon: december 15. 12.00 óra (amennyiben a hallgató a tavaszi félévben készíti el a kutatási dolgozatot) ill. május 15. 12 óra (ha a hallgató az őszi félévben készíti el a kutatási dolgozatot); - osztatlan tanári szakon: a szorgalmi időszak első hetének hétfője
március/október: a témavezető útmutatása alapján irodalmazás, bibliográfia összeállítása, a választott téma pontosítása
április/november 30.: a dolgozat egy fejezetének, részletes tartalomjegyzékének és bibliográfiájának elkészítése
legalább négy (havi egy) konzultáció. A konzultációkon be kell mutatni a folyamatosan készülő anyagot írásban. A konzultáción történő megjelenést a témavezető aláírásával igazolja
március/október 31.: a dolgozat egy fejezetének, részletes tartalomjegyzékének és bibliográfiájának elkészítése
május/december 31.: a kutatási dolgozat leadásának határideje. [Tanári mesterképzési szakon: május 15./december 15.!]

A kutatási dolgozat beadása:

A kutatási dolgozatot elektronikus formában (a témavezetőnek megküldött pdf fájlban + a https://moodle.uni-pannon.hu/course/view.php?id=29626 Moodle-linkre feltöltve - a köröztetett, aktuális linken) az Intézethez kell benyújtani. A külső borítón fel kell tüntetni a „Major paper” megnevezést, a hallgató nevét, szakját – Angol alapképzési szak (BA)/Angol nyelv és kultúra tanára (MEd) – és a dolgozat készítésének évét. A kutatási dolgozathoz csatolni kell egy nyilatkozatot arról, hogy a munka a hallgató saját szellemi terméke:

Nyilatkozat

A kutatási dolgozat terjedelme, nyelve:

Legalább 15 oldal. A terjedelembe csak a tényleges szövegoldalak számítanak, a címlap, a tartalomjegyzék, a bibliográfia és a függelékek nem.

Betűtípus: Times New Roman; betűnagyság: 12-es; sortávolság: 1,5; margók: bal oldalon 3,5 cm (köttetés miatt), a többi oldalon 2,5 cm.

A dolgozat nyelve angol.

A kutatási dolgozat bírálata, határideje: A dolgozat értékelését elsősorban a szakmai tartalom alapján a témavezető adja, aki részletes elemző véleményt készít. A témavezető által elkészített bírálatot az Intézet legkésőbb egy héttel a vizsgaidőszak vége előtt megküldi a hallgatónak.

Major paper

In the English Studies BA program in the 4thsemester of the curriculum [in the unidivided MEd program in the 8^th semester, in the short cycle MEd programs in the semester indicated in the respective curriculum] students are required to write a major paper in one of the subject areas taught in the 4^th semester of the curriculum: literary theory or history, theoretical or applied linguistics or the history and civilization of English speaking countries supervised by a faculty member. [In the MEd program language pedagogy is the required subject area.]. The major paper is the prerequisite to enrolment to Dissertation Seminar I in the English BA program. [In the MEd program: the major paper is a prerequisite to the successful closing of the semester.]

Requirements for the Major paper

The topic of the major paper may be theoretical, or, in fields where there is an opportunity for observation and experimentation (e.g. linguistics or applied linguistics), practical.

Aims of the Major paper:

Major paper candidates must prove their ability to synthesise previously acquired knowledge. They must exhibit their capability to complete the initial steps of research work and apply the rules of English academic writing both in method and style in a short research paper of approximately 15 pages.

Choice of Topic; Supervisor:

The choice of major paper topics is restricted to the range of fields designated by the Institute. This may vary from year to year according to the decisions of the Head of Institute. Any lecturer of the Institute may act as supervisor. The choice of topic must be approved by the Head of Institute.

Consultations:

The major paper candidate must have his/her topic approved by a supervisor of his/her choice, in writing, on the form sheet provided by the Institute designated as ‘Major paper form’. Acceptance of the topic is indicated by the signature of the Head of Institute.

Deadlines:

In the event the candidate writes the major paper in the Spring semester (February)/Autumn semester (September):

start of the semester: choosing a topic, contacting the supervisor, finalizing the research question
deadline for the submission of the completed Major paper form: - English BA program: 15 December (in the event the candidate writes the major paper in the Spring semester (February) or 15 May (in the event the candidate writes the major paper in the Autumn semester (September); - Undivided MEd program: the first Monday of the semester
March/October: research of sources and compilation of bibliography under the guidance of the supervisor; further refinement of chosen topic.
30 April/30 November: Completion of a chapter, the detailed list of contents, and the bibliography of the major paper.
A minimum of four (one per month) consultations. At consultations, the major paper material must be presented in writing, as it develops. Consultation sessions must be registered with the signature of the supervisor.
31 March/October: completion of a chapter, the detailed list of contents, and the bibliography of the major paper.
31 May/December: deadline for the submission of the major paper. [In the MEd program: 15 May/15 December!]

Submission of the Major paper:

The major paper must be submitted to the Institute electronically (via email to the supervisor in pdf format + uploaded to the https://moodle.uni-pannon.hu/course/view.php?id=29626 Moodle database ... The outer cover must display the word ‘Major paper’ as well as the name and major (‘Angol alapképzési szak’) of the candidate and the year of the major paper. A declaration by the candidate must also be enclosed, stating that the major paper is the candidate’s own intellectual property:

I (signed below) hereby declare that the major paper entitled ............................. is the result of my own individual work for which I did not receive any credits or another degree certificate. All printed, electronic, or oral sources cited are indicated according to the rules of research methodology.

Length and Language of Major paper:

A minimum of 15 pages. Only main text body pages may be counted in the volume of the dissertation, excluding title page, table of contents, bibliography, and appendices.

Font: Times New Roman; font size: 12; spacing: 1.5; margins: left 3.5 cm (to allow for binding), all other margins 2.5 cm.

The language of the major paper is English.

Evaluation of the Major paper; Deadline of Evaluation:

The major paper is evaluated by the supervisor, based primarily on professional content. The supervisor must issue a detailed analytical evaluation of the major paper. The Institute must send the evaluation completed by the supervisor no later than a week before the end of the exam period.
