Welcome to the English and American Studies Institute!

The Institute provides professional support for undergraduate and master’s programs in English Studies, master’s programs in English Language Teaching, and teacher training programs in English Language and Culture at the University of Pannonia.

EASI is part of the Faculty of Humanities (HTK), a hub for liberal arts, social sciences, teacher training, and research. Its mission is to educate autonomous intellectuals who understand social processes, think critically, drive innovation, and contribute to societal development. The faculty’s institutes conduct internationally recognized research in diverse fields, including linguistics, literary studies, ethnography, pedagogy, psychology, digital education, social sciences, and regional development. Beyond teaching and research, the faculty also provides consulting, development, and assessment services for institutions and companies in the region.

OUR PROGRAMS

English BA

In just six semesters, this BA program will give you the confidence to communicate in international business and public administration, both at home and abroad. You’ll raise your language skills to a professional level, learn about different cultures and nations, and sharpen your ability to connect with others in courses on Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting, British and American Studies, and British and American Popular Culture.

Our students prepare for careers in language services, media, local government, multinational companies, cultural institutions, creative industries, or education—or continue their studies in translation, applied linguistics, cultural studies, teacher training, tourism, communication, and almost any academic program in the social sciences.

English MA

Open to applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree, this four-semester master’s program in humanities offers in-depth studies in theoretical and applied linguistics, literatures in English and the history of English-speaking countries, as well as in English for specific purposes. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in international business, media and communications, creative industries, cultural life, diplomacy, institutions of the European Union and scientific research institutes.

Open to international students.

Instruction in English MA

Open to applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree, this two-semester master’s program in humanities offers advanced English language instruction alongside in-depth theoretical and practical training in English language pedagogy. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in domestic language schools as well as public and private language education abroad.

Teacher of English Language and Culture MA, MEd

Our teacher training programs meet Hungary’s national accreditation standards. The length of study depends on the applicant’s previous qualifications. Students benefit from advanced English language instruction combined with comprehensive theoretical and practical training in English language pedagogy. Graduates are equipped for successful careers in both public and private language education, in Hungary and abroad.

EASI operates through three departments and also offers language and technical language training.

Responsible for the teaching, planning, and development of courses in the literature and culture of English-speaking countries, and for conducting research in literature and cultural studies.
